and controlled environments

controlled environments do not prepare you for real life. same people. same conditions. same weights. you become fragile to the shock of an unexpected circumstance. school was the first "safe, controlled" environment most of us dealt with. and a lot of us are shocked when we realize the real world does not have the same linear features. corporate environments try to mimic the school system because its familiar. but too often people learn the skills that are only useful in that environment and struggle to find employment outside of it if they get let go. plus, these types of environments don't promote tinkering or randomness due to their controlled structure, so no real innovation can happen.

theres the culture of sets and reps that i don't agree with. going into a workout with an already planned out number of exercise youre gonna do is exactly what you should not be doing. we need to promote listening to your body. doing what feels right. some days you can go hard. some days you want to take it easy. its being active that's important in the end. and more importantly, all the biggest gains in strength and muscle come from the reps where you're most tired. quitting on those because you're doing 4 for 12 is slowing you down. wayyyyyy more on this soon. theres a bigger point to be made here.

also working out in the park is just fun. theres so much more to experience. so much room for novelty. i've met so many amazing people and done things ive never thought id do by putting myself in those situations. that's part of the reason i exercise. to push past mental barriers. hard to do that in a gym where everything is cookie cutter.

this is my first time writing something like this. obviously i have a lot of ideas. probably not always evident where im going with them. but the overarching theme will become clear as i learn to tease it out faster. this is not meant to be a polished writing. i want it to be raw. and over time you'll see these themes repeat and it'll start to make sense. bisous
