raw, unfiltered thoughts from my brain

there is a lot of debate on the usefulness of ai and i wanted to share my take. i dont wanna get into the politics and power of it (right now). i wanna focus on its utility and how we can use it to become smarter.

the answer isnt either "use it for everything. rot brain" or "boycott. keep strengthening your reasoning".

its both. i guess depending on the level of complexity and specificity you're working on. if you ask claude to give you a vanilla next app he can one shot it (makes sense. theres infinite documentation for it).

i think a more interesting use case is learning. often times im curious about an idea (electromagnetics, astronomy, music theory to name a few) and ill just straight up talk to claude about it. literally voice to text whatever is in my brain. id say its somewhat coherent. and i learn A TON this way.

im gonna give an example of a convo i had with it tonight but ill try and piece together what im doing.

first is im following the first thread that comes up and i try to be reasonable about when i hop off it. if i have an idea, ill basically explain everything i know about it and ask it to correct me first (some disagree with this approach because its biased to agree with you, but id say the benefit of trying to something myself in terms of how well i understand in the end outweighs that).

super important here is that i know hes gonna drift. hes gonna explain what i need in the first 1 to 2 paragraphs then hes gonna ramble about some shit i didnt ask. so i pretty much skim the top of the response and dont even bother with the rest. also i always read the thought process cause theres good shit in there. its more direct. you realize that theres so much effort going into making it conversational like dude just give me the answers but anyways. you need to learn how to not get swept up in all his waxing poetic.

which brings me to another point: ask clarifiying questions. hell make some poetic analogy about something u barely know just ask straight up what are u talking about.

ok also super important is

mwahhhhh. love ya
